#MediaMonday – Cynthia Sassi
How has it been 11 years since we profiled the one-and-only Cynthia Sassi in our #MediaMonday series? Time flies when you are creating an empire!
Back when we first profiled Cynthia, she developed an Arizona-based online media outlet called Fabulous Arizona that was taking off into the stratosphere.
Fast-forward to today, and the brand has expanded exponentially.
But I will let Cynthia share that news…
Cynthia, tell us about the brand today?
What started as Fabulous Arizona is now Fabulous Media Group. Under this umbrella, we own and operate Fabulous Arizona as well as Fabulous California, Fabulous Nevada, Fabulous Washington, Fabulous Iowa, and Fabulous Wisconsin (and growing). Each website focuses on what makes that state fabulous. We now have contributors across the nation and our passion is to tell the stories of local businesses and be a resource for the communities we serve.
What types of stories does each website tell?
Each site is hyper-local to its state, with evergreen roundups, news of openings and regular series, like Nonprofit of the Month, Restaurant of the Week, and Fab People. HMA’s own Alison Bailin is a long-time writer for several of the outlets, in fact, especially Fabulous California, where she writes on the various wine regions across the state. The content is meant to be a resource for both locals looking for things to do and places to go in their own state, as well as tourists who are visiting.
Tell us about the kinds of pitches you want:
Our team is always seeking the latest and greatest on anything locally lifestyle, including restaurants, resorts, spas, home and design, arts and culture, events, nonprofits, people and more. A local angle is a key component for any pitch to us.
Where did you grow up?
Milwaukee until I was 10 years old, then moved to Glendale, Ariz. Hence why we have a couple of Midwest markets as part of Fabulous Media Group!
Favorite color?
Neutrals
Favorite TV shows or movies?
Succession, Survivor, and any mystery shows or movies.
Favorite local restaurants or other haunts – both in AZ and your new adopted home state of CA?
For special occasions in Arizona: Francine Restaurant, Cafe Monarch, and Maple & Ash.
For special occasions in the San Diego area: The Marine Room, Huntress, and Vigilucci’s.
