HMA Public Relations has been involved with public relations activities surrounding gaming in Arizona before it was a thing.
We helped in the formation of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association back in 1994. We played a key role in the communications related to the signing of the first gaming compacts in Arizona. It seems like a lifetime ago. Since then, we have worked with almost every tribe in Arizona and New Mexico, providing communications counsel for both gaming and non-gaming initiatives.
While once thought to be a pipe-dream, recently amended gaming compacts in Arizona have made sports books a thing of the present, both on and off Indian Reservations.
Sports Betting Comes to Arizona
Now, our team is helping to usher in sports betting in the Grand Canyon State. We have been working with Caesars Entertainment to launch the company’s new sports betting app which goes live on Sept. 9 as well as Caesars Sportsbook at Chase Field. With temporary betting windows available, the 20,000-square-foot entertainment destination is slated to open early next year.
Our early work on this mega-product launch was originally top secret as we were contractually obligated to keep it quiet. But, now we are talking about it. There are exhaustive state-mandated regulations that must be adhered to. Our work has involved juggling key messages from several significant stakeholders. The initial project is a combination of planning and orchestrating a major kick-off event and all the media relations activities surrounding it. There are celebrities involved and live remotes for both radio and TV stations. There are long-lead print deadlines that have had to be met with professionalism and trust, in addition to the multitude of other media requests, often on deadline. It’s rewarding for us that there are international companies that know our track record and have turned to us for our local knowledge and expertise on this critical communications effort. It’s a win-win as we deliver on a masterful PR plan written for the launch.
And you can bet this will also be a hit for those in Arizona who love to wager on sports.
