There Is News Everywhere You Travel…and So Are Starbucks
I’m in Mexico City this week for the spring Public Relations Global Network conference. Our host agency, Eje Comunicacion, have gone above and beyond to ensure that we not only have informative sessions but plenty of opportunities to visit their beautiful city, taking in the sights, sounds and culture of the Oldest City in the Americas.
With some free time yesterday before the opening reception, several of us took a walking tour of historic downtown MexicoCity. Did you know that Mexico City is the most populous city in North America with more than 9.2 million people in the city proper. The Greater Mexico City metropolitan area has a population of 21.8 million. You can imagine the traffic!
I popped over to Starbucks this morning for my sugar-free vanilla latte and took a glance at the newspapers and magazines. Lifestyle and business magazines and of course daily newspapers offer local, national and international news.
Today’s sessions include a keynote from Marta Castro, director of communications for Uber, and a presentation from Carlos Mota, a local journalist and tv host on the current economic outlook of this region.
Other topics over the next few days include the use of AI, crisis communications, gender-focused journalism, and ethics in public relations.
Muchas gracias to Loreley and her team, here’s to a great meeting.
