Confession time, I’ve been pronouncing these words all wrong

There are countless polls and lists that rank cities and industries on their respective standing amongst their peers.

The business lists, like the Book of Lists, have become tainted over the years, with business owners or their representatives grossly inflating their numbers so as to appear higher on the list than they actually should.

And there are the lists, like Ranking Arizona, that require a vote.  So companies have their employees and their families and friends vote and vote and vote to gain them recognition on the list of “top whatever industry.” I’ve always said this is like making sausage:  the process is gross, but in the end we like how it tastes.

There are two top rankings for Phoenix that are just the opposite.  They are for being the worst in their respective industries.

Both the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals have had and will have the first pick in their player drafts.  The distinction doesn’t come from fudging corporate numbers or from stuffing the ballot box.  It comes from having the WORST records in their leagues.

Thankfully, over our nearly 40 years in business – we have never qualified for the Number One Draft Pick.  And while we may not be on some of the high-profile lists, we may still think to ourselves – “WE ARE number one.”

More importantly, that’s what our clients think.
