#MediaMonday – Rachel Cole

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Rachel Cole, host of Arizona Midday. A proud member of the 12News team, Rachel has worn many hats as an anchor, reporter, and multi-skilled journalist. Before joining 12News, she served as a morning anchor and reporter at KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas. For the last several years in the Valley of the Sun, Rachel has covered our community extensively, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Valley and the United Food Bank.

Okay, Rachel, time to share…

Tell us about your role at the station?

I hold a very diverse role within 12News, from covering breaking news over the last 8 years to now being at the helm of our lifestyle show. There’s been no shortage of opportunities to meet people on their toughest days and help connect them with solutions, to highlight all the community efforts in the Valley of the Sun.

What kind of pitches, if any, do you prefer? What topics are of most interest to you?

We love to cover small businesses and groups doing their best to execute their missions of making the community a better and stronger place.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Phoenix near Paradise Valley Mall and loved walking to school every day with my siblings.

Favorite TV shows or movies?

Seinfeld, hands down. I watch it every single day. My favorite movie is My Best Friend’s Wedding, just love Julia Roberts.

Any local spots that you just love?

Eleanor is my favorite place in the Valley – darling place to enjoy breakfast with my husband, we love that it’s dog friendly so we can bring our doodle.

What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?

I’m born and raised in Arizona; I never dreamed of being in broadcasting but a dear teacher of mine at Paradise Valley Community College encouraged me to go into the field and after applying and graduating from ASU, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
