#MediaMonday – Michelle “Shelly” Talsma Everson
Today’s #MediaMonday is a buddy!
One we actually first profiled almost exactly five years ago today, in fact.
But, she has chosen HMATime to make a special announcement. So, without further ado, we are turning today’s column over to Michelle “Shelly” Talsma Everson.
So, Shelly, tell us everything!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’m very excited to announce that, as of the April 2016 issue, I’m the new managing editor of Arizona Health & Living Magazine (AZHL)! Working with the executive editor, I’ll be in charge of all of the magazine’s editorial content, including a section that highlights local businesses, nonprofits and several Arizona news items every month. I’ll also be helping to boost the magazine’s online presence, including social media.
AZHL is all about highlighting health and wellness in its many forms. We’re also interested in good news taking place in our communities, so please don’t hesitate to drop me a note at michelle@azhealthandliving.com regarding any questions or story ideas.
While being the managing editor of AZHL is my new main gig, I still also work with several other Valley print and online publications. I have been copyediting and writing for Arizona Parenting Magazine for more than two years; I write about Arizona destinations for Wander With Wonder; I am a contributing writer for Green Living AZ Magazine; and many others. I also help small local businesses with their PR needs from time to time. For freelance projects, I can be reached at michelle.t.everson@gmail.com.
As for my background, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with degrees in both public relations and print journalism and have worked on “both sides of the fence” – so I get media from both perspectives.
Besides work, anyone who knows me for more than five minutes (if that long) is well-aware of my favorite “intern” – my six-year-old son who is a mainstay at family-friendly media events. He’s the light of my life and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to tailor my career around him. He plans to be a “Youtuber” when he grows up, so you might be seeing much more of him in the future!
In addition to work and motherhood, I love spending time with friends, exploring the Valley (even when it’s hot), and always learning new things.
To connect on social media, you can friend me on LinkedIn or follow me on Twitter. You can also see more at my new website at www.mteverson.com.
