#MediaMonday – Melissa Larsen

More than seven years ago, we had the privilege of profiling Melissa Larsen as part of our #MediaMonday series. Back then she was the editor of a lifestyle magazine with two very young boys at home and a darling husband who looked like the spitting image of Joel McHale. And while her hubby still looks like the Community/Talk Soup star, the boys are getting bigger, and for the past three years, Melissa has been leading a wholly new endeavor as the editor of Fabulous Media Group, overseeing Fabulous Arizona, Fabulous California, Fabulous Nevada, Fabulous Washington, Fabulous Iowa, and Fabulous Wisconsin.

Given this, it was time to give her online profile an update.

Melissa, tell us about your role today and the outlets themselves:

I am the editor in chief of all Fabulous Media Group lifestyle magazine websites. Each site is hyper-local to its state, with evergreen roundups, news of openings and regular series, like Nonprofit of the Month, Restaurant of the Week and Fab People.

Tell us about the kinds of pitches you want:

Information pertaining to restaurants and resorts; arts and culture; events; spa and wellness; homes and design; nonprofits. I am also always seeking Fab People (business owners, chefs, philanthropists, artists, etc.) to spotlight across all six states.

Where did you grow up?

Long Island.

Favorite color?

Green.

Favorite TV shows or movies?

I am such a TV girl. Recent-ish favorites include “Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking,” “Never Have I Ever,” “The Bear,” “Fleabag,” “Cobra Kai” and “Schitt’s Creek.” And I will never turn off an episode of “Friends,” “The Office” or “30 Rock.”

Favorite local restaurants or other haunts?

My family has been spending a lot of time at Epicenter in Gilbert—great dining and shopping! My husband and I are big fans of Undertow, Little Rituals, Wren House, Crust and Clever Koi. We also hit the road for Flagstaff often and always visit Pizzicletta, Dark Sky Brewing and Thorpe Park.
