#MediaMonday – Lorna Romero

Abbie sat on a panel recently with the Phoenix PRSA Masters Group.  The topic was branded journalism and content marketing.  She was there talking about our content marketing platform, The Arizona 100.  Joining her as one of other panelists was Lorna Romero, executive director of Chamber Business News.

Chamber Business News, an initiative of the Arizona Chamber Foundation,  is a digital media platform that delivers insider information, engages newsmakers and addresses statewide issues that drive Arizona toward a brighter and more prosperous future.
Lorna, time to share:

At Chamber Business News, we not only post daily articles to our website, we also distribute breaking news, interesting opinion pieces and more via the Dry Heat, which is an e-news brief sent to our subscribers Monday through Friday. Subscriptions are free, by the way. Our team focuses on the often-untold stories of issues that drive Arizona’s economy forward. The demand for positive and credible business is evident by the outpouring of support for Chamber Business News. With only a year under our belt we have experienced significant growth, surpassing 40,000 digital subscribers.

Prior to this role I worked for a couple years at a public affairs firm, leading public relations strategies and assisting with policy development and analysis. I had the privilege of being the communications director for the 2016 John McCain for U.S. Senate Campaign where I served as the senator’s spokeswoman. I have also served as former Gov. Jan Brewer’s director of legislative affairs and as policy adviser, working on policy initiatives such as Medicaid Restoration, anti-human trafficking legislation and child-safety reform, as well as commerce and economic development issues.

Although I began my career working in public affairs, I always had an interest in public relations and communications. Much of my previous jobs were dependent on clear, concise and effective communication, therefore transitioning into public relations and now news media was relatively smooth.

Business is out beat, and we have kept a pulse on critical issues to Arizona’s economy:

Some fun facts about me: when I’m not working I enjoy practicing hot yoga and I was a competitive salsa dancer at Arizona State University.
