#MediaMonday – Krystle Henderson
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from 12 News, where Krystle Henderson is a multiple Emmy Award-winning meteorologist and multimedia journalist. She joined 12 News in 2013 and is part of the Today in AZ team.
Krystle, time to share:
I’m born and raised in the Valley and grew up watching 12 News. It was always my dream to be on Team 12.
I decided to get into the media because I love sharing stories and connecting with the community. I also love getting others interested in our weather and climate!
I graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. At ASU, I also minored in business at the W.P. Carey School. I was admitted into the National Honor Society of Journalists, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I continued my education at Mississippi State University, earning a Bachelor of Science and Certificate in broadcast meteorology.
The thing I like best about my job is I’m always getting a chance to meet new people.
I’m also involved with our industry, having served on the NATAS Rocky Mountain Emmy Board of Governors since 2018. I was motivated to join after hosting the Student Production Awards in 2017. I’ve served as the SPA’s host ever since. I also serve on the Board of Governors for the NATAS Rocky Mountain Emmy Foundation, which is a non-profit that focuses on student support, mentoring and scholarships. I’m passionate about supporting the next generation of journalists and industry professionals!
When I’m not working, I love to get outdoors and explore Arizona. Sometimes you’ll even find my two rescue dogs with me on some of my adventures.
A fun fact about me: for my very first job, I was a Sonic carhop… roller-skates and all! I still love to skate.
