#MediaMonday – Danielle Lerner
For the next addition to our five-part #MediaMonday series, in celebration of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ 42nd annual Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards, we’re welcoming Danielle Lerner back to the HMA blog! Since we last saw her, Danielle has jumped from early mornings to late nights, now anchoring ABC 15’s weekend evening newscasts and reporting for various newscasts throughout the week. She’s also had some big changes behind the scenes, getting married and welcoming two little girls, 2-year-old Addison and 5-month-old Harper.
In this story, look for these highlights:
- She is a local girl – she graduated from Chaparral High School!
- Her school didn’t even have a journalism major and she never thought about a career in the field until her mom suggested she try an internship with a local news station to work on her writing skills, and it changed everything.
- She got her first true reporting job in San Luis Obispo, which Oprah once called the happiest place in America.
- Other than the Rocky Mountain Emmy awards, she is also affiliated with the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter as a board member.
