#Media Monday – Robyn Moore
I am a big country music fan. KNIX FM is my morning wake-up station. Has been for years. And it was such a nice surprise to hear that that Robyn Moore was going to join the Ben and Matt show in the mornings. Some of you may remember Robyn as she was a public relations practitioner here in the Valley for several years.
It isn’t uncommon for a member of the media to make the switch and join the ranks of the public relations profession. But it isn’t often you hear of someone from our side making the switch.
So Robyn, give us the 411 on this new gig.
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
Coming from a public relations background, it’s a little strange to now be considered the “media,” but I am honored to share my story!
I grew up in the East Valley and went to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. I switched my major from broadcast to public relations my sophomore year after a fun internship with Harkins Theatres. I went on to have five other PR-related internships and luckily, all that hard work paid off. I landed my first PR job at a local agency where I worked for about three years and then decided to try something new and move to Los Angeles. I loved living by the beach and I met so many amazing friends working in that crazy city but after a year and a half, I had to come back home. Phoenix is where it’s at!
I never considered radio as a profession in my entire life. I was approached for the gig through my friend Joe, who is now my producer. It’s all about who you know in this world! After a few auditions, I was offered the opportunity to join Ben and Matt on KNIX in the mornings. I feel so blessed to have found my dream job in a city that I adore. I have a lot to learn being so new to the radio scene but I am up for the challenge. Not sure I’ll ever get used to the 3 a.m. alarm though…
I am a die-hard country fan so you can imagine how perfect this job is for me. When I am not on air, I am likely listening to country music, at a show, or practicing my two-step. My favorite country artist is Jason Aldean. I don’t know what it is about his songs but they get me every time. My two favorite country songs are “Just to See You Smile” by Tim McGraw and “Check Yes or No” by the King, George Strait.
Outside of the country realm, I enjoy running and hiking; anything that involves being active outside in our beautiful city. I like to cook healthy recipes and try new restaurants and wines. I wish I had the time to travel more. The beach is always calling my name. I also love spending time with my parents and younger brother. My family and friends mean everything to me.
Be sure to listen to the Ben and Matt show weekdays on 102.5 FM or online at KNIXCountry.com. I can be reached at RobynMoore@iheartmedia.com or by following me on social media on Instagram and Twitter at @KNIXRobyn and on Facebook at “Ben Matt KNIX.”
