#Media Monday – Colin Smith
Each Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better. But this Monday, we have a little something extra.
Consider this our Media Monday: Welcome Wagon Edition as we profile KTAR’s newest team member, Colin Smith, to the Valley all the way from Ohio!
Welcome Colin – and what do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’m excited to be in the valley after spending nearly seven years in Columbus, Ohio. The people I’ve met at KTAR have been tremendously professional and friendly—really everything I had hoped for when I packed up and moved across the country last month.
My time in Columbus was primarily marked by four years as an anchor/reporter with WTVN-AM, covering politics and Ohio State football (really the only two things that exist in the state’s capitol).
I’m an Ohio State graduate (and, of course, rabid Buckeye fan) but enjoy everything sports. I also enjoy the outdoors and am eager to explore the hiking and recreation that Phoenix has to offer.
I’m originally from Minneapolis/St. Paul, where my parents still live. They’re pleased that they’ll now have somewhere warm to travel when those Minnesota windchills reach -40 degrees in January.
In my opinion, the best thing about being a reporter is the daily interaction you have with people. One of my favorite parts of the job is covering something different and meeting someone new every day. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear that one of your stories touched someone in the community and I look forward to striving for that here in the valley.
