Father’s Day
Father’s Day was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd, the daughter of American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, and celebrated for the first time on the third Sunday of June in 1910. And I thought it was a Hallmark Holiday, created by the greeting card company as a way to generate sales.
It’s an official day to honor and recognize fathers. My dad passed away several years ago, so now I can only honor him with great memories and by living a life that he would be proud of.
And as the father of two sons, I am honored by seeing first-hand what outstanding men they are.
They both are fair and honest. They both have a work ethic that has been handed down for generations. They both have integrity, understand customer service and how to handle difficult situations at work. They are leaders and problem-solvers. They are respected by their peers and bosses. They are loyal and both know how important family is.
Yes, I’m proud. For me, every day is Father’s Day.
