Seattle’s Aaron Blank Correctly Predicts First 100-Degree Day in Phoenix; Wins Weekend Stay at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

Seattle resident Aaron Blank has won a weekend getaway at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North for correctly guessing Phoenix’s first 100 degree day of 2013 as part of SMACNA Arizona’s (the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association) Ninth Annual 100-Degree Contest.

Blank, who registered his guess in early March, correctly predicted Sunday, April 28 at 1:15 p.m. as the first 100-degree day to be recorded by the National Weather Service this year.   He is the first winner from outside Arizona in the contest’s nine-year history.  Blank is also only the second winner to predict the exact time, joining Monica Lagno, who in 2005 correctly picked May 11 at 2:12 p.m.

Carol Goguen, SMACNA Arizona’s executive director, said the contest was designed to be a fun way for people to get ready for the hot months ahead and to help them learn more about SMACNA Arizona’s member contractors who leader the HVAC industry by setting the highest standards of performance, service and safety. Entrants were required to enter the contest via SMACNA Arizona’s website, www.smacna-az.org. 

SMACNA is an international association of union contractors in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry representing 4,500 contributing contractor firms. The organization is committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and excellence in all facets of the sheet metal and air conditioning industry.
