The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale will join branches from across America to celebrate National Boys & Girls Club Week happening April 8 – 12, a tradition honored for more than 75 years. The BGCGS’ nine branches will host events to empha the importance and value of the programs they offer, allowing guests to see first-hand the impact the Clubs make on today’s youth.

 

Some of the activities the branches at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale have planned include:

Bring a Friend Day Dance Parties Club Spirit Family Fun Night  Club Decorating ContestsWacky Relay Races  

Although the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale’s different branches celebrate National Boys & Girls Club Week in a variety of ways, they all share the common focus on the five core program areas: the arts; character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; and sports, fitness and recreation.

 

“Nationally, Boys & Girls Clubs are increasingly playing a vital role in many young people’s lives,” said Steve Davidson, President/CEO at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. “Locally, we offer a positive place for kids whose parents are seeking an affordable, safe and enriching environment for their children.”

 

Boys & Girls Clubs are unique in the field of youth development due to these identifying characteristics. The Clubs provide:

A safe place to learn and growOngoing relationships with caring, professionally trained staff Life-enhancing programs and character development experiencesPeer, staff and volunteer recognition  

Additionally, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is gearing up for their 2013 Summer Camp. Children are placed in appropriate age groups and participate in a wide range of fun, organized activities as well as field trips. Registration has begun, with camp starting in June and running through early August (dates vary based on branch/school district location.)
