New TAB Lab

Helping christen the Arizona Joint Apprentice Training Committee’s (JATC) new test and balance lab are trustees of SMACNA Arizona, the Arizona chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, are: (l-r)  Allen Hendrix of Able Balance Arizona, James Dinan of Bel-Aire Mechanical, Inc., and Katie Watson-Cruz of Kinetic Systems, Inc.  The lab serves as a training center for apprentices in the testing and balancing of air conditioning and fire/life systems – critical to the safety of all commercial buildings. SMACNA Arizona contractors, who support the new lab and the JATC, lead the heating, ventilating and air conditioning industry by setting the highest standards of performance, service and safety.   SMACNA is an international association of union contractors in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry representing 4,500 contributing contractor firms. SMACNA’s technical manuals are the accepted standards for sheet metal and air conditioning and are updated regularly to move the industry forward in the areas of new applications, new materials, safety and training. To demonstrate that commitment, SMACNA Arizona has contributed more than $2.5 million statewide toward skills training and apprenticeships programs.
