“Our primary goal with the Challenge is to help members of our community think outside the box, quite literally, when it comes to our cookies in 2014,” said Susan de Queljoe, senior associate of marketing and communications for GSACPC. “We want to inspire the community with this new take on our classic cookies and hopefully they’ll buy an extra box or two from our girls to try their hand at a new recipe.”

In 2014, GSACPC has set of goal of selling 3.3 million boxes of cookies, with the proceeds used to support Girl Scouting in Arizona.

“We have a very aggressive goal this year and plan to use the proceeds of every package sold over 3 million to support the transformation of our local camp – Camp Sombrero – into a Leadership Center for Girls and Women,” said de Queljoe.

Camp Sombrero, perched at the base of South Mountain Preserve, is owned by the Council and has served girls over the last 40 years.  This 14.5 acre site will be transformed into the Leadership Center for Girls and Women.  This urban program center, with camp appeal, will provide leadership training for girls and women statewide, give girls their first camping experience close to home for some, and serve the surrounding community groups, partner organizations and schools.  The Leadership Center for Girls and Women will be a space where girls can explore and develop a fundamental belief in themselves and their abilities.  The leadership created in this space will, in turn, transform Arizona.

Girl Scout Cookies will be on sale January 27 – March 9, 2014. Unlike past years, the Girl Scouts will not be taking orders but will have all cookies on hand for immediate customer purchase. GSACPC hopes that this ‘direct sale’ model will increase customer satisfaction and cookie sales.
