Architects Aren’t Just for Buildings

Architect: a person who designs and guides a plan or undertaking.

When you hear the word architect, what comes to mind?  Blueprints? Plans? Foundation?  All true.  And I bet when you think of an architect you probably think about a building, a physical structure.

Also true, but not necessarily the only definition.  On this week’s episode of Copper State of Mind, Adrian and I had the pleasure of spending some time chatting with Jon Goldberg, founder and chief reputation architect with Reputation Architects, a communications firm that works with organizations of all sizes to enhance their reputation assets, neutralize reputation risks and transform complex business challenges into opportunities to demonstrate leadership and integrity.

In simple terms…they build, protect and restore reputations in a world of evaporated trust and unprecedented stakeholder engagement.

The conversation was particularly timely as we had just spent the previous show discussing the Edelman Trust Barometer and had a series of shows about building your brand online through a variety of social platforms.

The most valuable asset a business can have is its reputation. And what can take years to build can be shattered with one ill-timed tweet, an off-color comment by an executive, or a disgruntled customer with a large Instagram following.

Jon has spent his career advising clients about building a brand reputation, protecting it and what to do in the event that something threatens to ruin it. He’s written a book about it, Building Crisis Immunity, which lays out the five essential strategies to fortify your organization’s crisis immune system and build a stronger, more crisis-resistant reputation.

Take a listen as the three of us dive into the topic of reputation management.
