#MediaMonday – Allison Rodriguez

Allison, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Did you always know you wanted to be in news?
No. I actually didn’t know what I wanted to do for a long time. But I always had a love of public speaking and meeting new people. It all kind of came together when I took my first broadcast journalism class in college in Chicago. That’s when everything clicked. I call it my “aha” moment. Please don’t sue me Oprah.
What’s your favorite type of music:
Is it cliché to say I like all kinds? Well I do! From The Beatles to Selena…even Mozart! You’ll find all of those in my iTunes. But I’m currently loving anything with Maluma and Shakira.
And your favorite color:
It’s white. Boring but true.
What are some of your favorite haunts:
You’ll find me at any really good pizza place or Mexican restaurant. Birreria Obregon is one of my staples. I also love the pastries at The Henry and LGO.
And I’m always down for a trip to the Grand Canyon. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful! You also can’t go wrong with a trip to Sedona.
Favorite food:
Pizza, pizza and more pizza!
Least favorite food:
I just can’t get down with Brussels sprouts. Hard pass.
What three things readers would be surprised to know about you:
- I speak English, Spanish, French and a bit of Hindi. 2. I grew up riding dirt bikes and I still love it. 3. I play a little bit of the piano and guitar.
Last thing to know about me — my family is everything to me. They are my tribe and the ultimate Rodriguez squad. That support pushes me to do the best I can every day.
