What’s New in Canva?
For many of us, the online graphic design tool Canva has helped us unlock our creative side while elevating the content that we create. With changes always coming to the platform, I am sharing some of my personal favorite features and key additions that have been introduced and why they are important.
AI Tools
New AI tools are rolling out on your favorite platforms every day and Canva is no exception. With the new AI-powered Magic Design feature, Canva users can upload an image and automatically receive personalized templates of the image to create the ideal design. With the Magic Write feature, users can also have AI text generated based off of prompts.
Canva also aims to make presentation creation a breeze by making full presentation visuals with images based off just one photo! Looking to bring even more visual appeal to a presentation? You can also pick engaging AI presenters to read text that you upload. I even used the app’s text to image tool to help me create a custom photo to accompany this blog post!

Whiteboard
As a regular Canva user, I was always curious why there was no option to draw. This has changed with the introduction of a whiteboard tool that allows users to sketch ideas directly onto designs with different pen types and endless colors to choose from.
Beat Sync
Short-form video content continues to rule and with many of these videos set to music, Canva’s Beat Sync can align the footage you upload into sync with any music of your choice. This is an especially helpful tool if you create video social media content and would like to take part in viral trends.
Personal Favorites
While the platform has so much to offer, I do have some personal favorite tools and uses for it. One standout for me is Canva’s library of stock photos, music and graphics, which makes it simple to create entire projects without having to find another site for free resources. And when there is something unwanted in an image or video I like, their background remover tool is another great feature I use regularly.
Another interesting feature I love from Canva is the ability to seamlessly switch from desktop site to mobile app. By using their send to phone option to share, a custom QR code is generated that when scanned will open directly on the Canva mobile app to continue editing.
Try out these new features to see how Canva can take your visuals to the next level.
