What Is Trending in PR Today?
Cision and PRWeek jointly released their 7th Annual Global Comms Report, a deep dive into trends, challenges, and opportunities for marketing communications professionals. The in-depth report shared that 92% of respondents say that their C-suite sought their counsel more often last year than in prior years. We like to hear that!
In addition, respondents were very focused on:
- Generating content that results in meaningful business outcomes.
- Seamlessly working across paid and earned opportunities, especially in relation to trade media and micro/niche online influencers.
- Understanding the next big thing for Gen Z.
- Increasing the organization’s current ability to respond to a crisis.
As is par for the course in the past 15 years, another major element of the report focused on digital communications, especially determining which social media platforms to emphasize. Facebook still rules as No. 1, but now only by a slim margin (2%) over Instagram.
My personal favorite stat in the report? Events are back, baby! After dwindling to nearly zero during the pandemic, in-person events are again seen as a credible, impactful way to build brand awareness, drive results, and authentically connect with one’s stakeholders and target audiences.
