How to prepare yourself for a virtual presentation

These last two months, we have all become very comfortable with using platforms like Go to Meeting or Zoom. This week, Team HMA took on giving new business presentations – virtually.

While these presentations are nothing new for HMA, this was my first since being at HMA and everyone’s first being done virtually.

So how did we make sure the virtual presentation was a success?

Rehearse
We rehearsed our presentation several times ahead of time. This allowed us to make changes to slides, gather our thoughts and to know who would speak to each topic.

Research
Research is necessary for a presentation no matter if it is in person or virtually. It is important to know who and what you’re about to speak about.

Feed off your team
Be sure to listen to what is being said by others during the presentations. It can be a great pivot into a subject that you are going to touch on further later and helps keeps the thoughts cohesive.

Abbie’s Tips
Abbie provided some tips on how to be a virtual expert resource that are great to follow for any virtual meeting or presentation.
Also remember to be yourself and show some personality. Since you don’t have the luxury of being in person to read body language, you want to be engaging and have a little fun to be sure to not bore your audience.
