#TipForTuesday – Improving your SEO
Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is what is happening on the back-end of your website to make sure that when someone is searching online for a particular topic, your website pops up. Paying attention to keywords and phrases that you want to be known for is critically important to our SEO success. But it is not just establishing a few words and calling it a day – SEO should be an ongoing priority for any business.
But like so many social strategies, there are some potential pitfalls to be aware of:
- Posting the same content from your website to your social media. Repurposing the intent of the content is good, a direct cut-and-paste is not. Take different aspects of your current content and create something new to share on social. You can always link back to the original information.
- SEO is not a set it and forget it strategy. Regularly and consistently posting new content to your website is a great way to watch your SEO grow. Uploading content to your website using and keywords will help increase traffic to your website. Plus, by adding fresh and relevant content, your website visitors will want to come back to the page often.
- Slow load time means they’ll look elsewhere. If your site is taking too long to load, consider removing plugins that aren’t being used, not compressing photos and caching content or hosting your site on an outdated server.
If your website has SEO optimization built-in and you aren’t using it, you are doing your business a disservice. Be sure to use all available tools to increase your SEO and ultimately increase your business. You won’t regret it.
