The Rise of Social Media Subscriptions
Some of the biggest platforms in the game have rolled out paid subscription features for users. Would you be willing to pay a small fee each month for more services on your favorite social media platform? Here are a few options.
Twitter Blue
Described as a way to take your experience on Twitter to the next level, Twitter Blue was first released last June and is now available in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
For a monthly fee of $4.99, users can get access to a few different features including the option to undo sent tweets, read articles ad-free, customize the app icon and sort bookmarked tweets into specific folders.
YouTube Premium
YouTube’s paid option takes it a step further than the rest in providing upgraded features. For a monthly fee of $11.99, YouTube Premium removes advertisements, gives users access to their library of original shows and the YouTube Music Premium streaming service, allows users to download videos for offline viewing and more.
Snapchat Plus
Much like Twitter Blue, Snapchat Plus seeks to enhance the in-app experience. Some of the exclusive Snapchat Plus features include being able to see where friends have been in the last 24 hours, the ability to see which users have rewatched your Snapchat stories and most importantly, an exclusive badge on your profile. This subscription starts at $3.99 a month with a six-month option at $21.99 and a yearly option for $39.99.
