How Powerful Is The Written Word?
Was it coincidental that just days after my most recent knee surgery, I came across a letter written in 1999 from Harvey Mackey to me regarding a knee surgery I was having nearly 20 years ago?
While staring at the Mackay Envelope Corporation letterhead, I was reminded of a few things.
First – it was great fun to be a part of his communications team in promoting his books Pushing the Envelope and Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty. Seeing how Harvey utilized his vast network was inspiring and educational.
Second — Harvey has ALWAYS practiced what he preaches. He has always backed-up his relationships with meaningful action, whether it is the recommendation of a good physical therapist (as is the case here), connecting business leaders with common interests or goals or having books or other materials sent to interested parties.
I have seen each of those examples in person.
Third — Leading by example is as powerful as the written words that support it.
