#MediaMonday – Kyndra de St. Aubin
Ballet or basketball?
Shopping or Suns?
Makeup or Manning?
I think it comes as NO surprise I choose the latter of all the options above.
I just love sports. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
You know what I also love – other women who love sports, and talking about sports, as much as me.
So, it is with GREAT pleasure, that today’s #MediaMonday is about one of Arizona’s great sports minds – female or otherwise. Her name is Kyndra de St. Aubin, and if you listen to Arizona Sports, you know her well. This multi-tasker is an on-air reporter, columnist and social media whiz on all things sports.
So, Kyndra, what do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
Every day I get paid to do what I LOVE, and sports is my passion!
I’ll admit, when I went to college at the University of Minnesota, I had NO idea what I wanted to do or what I wanted to be when I grew up. My only focus when I went to college was playing soccer. When they told me I had to declare a major by my junior year, I was forced to figure out what direction my life would take when soccer was over.
So, I spent a few days with my brother, who was a sports radio producer in Chicago. I found out that he gets paid to watch the Final Four, go to the MLB All Star Game and the Super Bowl! I immediately knew that I could turn my passion for sports into a way of life, and I was hooked!
Here in Arizona, I work for Arizona Sports 620 as a reporter covering the Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Suns, Coyotes and ASU. I attend practice, games, batting practice, press conferences and anything and everything that has to do with each of these teams. I also fill-in as a co-host from time to time, and used to be the SportsCenter Update Anchor during PM drive.
From a personal standpoint, I was born in Wisconsin but raised in Minnesota. I am a Timberwolves, Vikings, Wild, Twins fan at heart but I will admit that when the teams I cover do well…it does make my job easier. J
I am married to my high school sweetheart (been together for 16 years, married for 8 ½) and we have a dog named Raegan.
In conclusion, I am blessed to have a job that I love waking up to every single day. Every day is different and brings a new adventure. I never know who is going to win or lose or who is going to go off for 25 and 15 in the Suns game!
Sports is MY passion and my only advice is that if you have something you are truly passionate it about…try and make it your career…go for it. Loving what you do is worth it.
