In continuation of our five-part #MediaMonday series celebrating the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ 42nd annual Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards, we’re moving on to our fourth spotlight – Kris Pickel! We last saw Kris on the HMA blog when introducing her to Phoenix in 2015 as a new face at CBS 5.

- She is an eight-time Emmy recipient across her 30-year TV news career.
- Kris almost pursued a career selling wine in San Francisco – that came with a company car and everything! She turned it down for an editor job that was less than half the salary.
- She is the first female reporter on the West Coast to enter a boot camp for jail inmates and go undercover.
- She takes pride in her community work and volunteers with Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
