#MediaMonday – Jordan Bontke

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Jordan Bontke, a reporter at ABC 15.

I recently had the opportunity to interview Jordan for a profile in City Lifestyles Ahwatukee Magazine.

Among the best nuggets from the interview:

• It is kismet that Jordan reports on the Uplifting Arizona beat for ABC 15. His father, who passed in 2019, was Santa for thousands of kids in their home state of Texas, which allowed him to see the power of lifting others up, which has inspired him since his youth.
• He was his high school’s mascot and competed in the 2008 Capital One Mascot Challenge.
• In college, where he studied Broadcast Journalism, Jordan had the chance to meet Dan Rather, who was adamant about always working on one’s writing to be a successful reporter, something he has continued to do since that day.
• Upon graduation in 2012, he was offered a reporting role in Waco, Tex. While there, he met his wife, an Arizona native. Of course, she was always looking for a chance to get back to the Valley of the Sun.
• He was hired as a reporter in late 2021 after connecting with the assistant news director about a shared love of Oregano’s.
• This year, Jordan is focused on consistent quality and impact, as well as seizing opportunities as they come.
