#MediaMonday – Jessica Boehm

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Jessica Boehm, reporter at the newly launched Axios Phoenix.

Tell us about the outlet and types of story pitches you want?

At Axios Phoenix, we try to include a little bit of everything. We want people to walk away feeling like they learned something interesting about our city every day. We’ve written about everything from politics to rooftop bars and housing to dog adoptions. So feel free to pitch us on just about anything!

How did you get into journalism?

I’ve always loved to write, and if you ask my mother, I’ve been asking, “what’s that?” about everything and anything since I learned to talk. It was a natural fit and I was proud to start my career at The Arizona Republic in 2015 and I’m thrilled to be starting something new with Axios Phoenix now.

Where did you grow up?

I’m a lifelong Arizonan. I grew up on the Chandler-Tempe border and graduated from ASU. Go Devils!

Favorite type of music?

I love country music and alternative rock!

Favorite color?

It changes frequently, but it’s most often in the pink family.

Favorite TV shows or movies?

My favorite movies are Moulin Rouge, National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation and Wayne’s World. As for TV, I love Friends, 30 Rock and the West Wing.

Favorite local restaurants or other haunts?

I love Serrano’s, Pomo and Forno 301. I also love Valley Bar, Postino and Cider Corps.
