#MediaMonday – Jesse Millard
Anyone ever notice the sheer amount of content on the AZ Big Media website – and that is in addition to their flagship print magazine, AZ Business Magazine, and its many sister magazines?
The gatekeeper of all of that information – Jesse Millard – is today’s #MediaMonday!
So, Jesse, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’m a nerd, and a big one at that. In grade school I spent a lot of my time reading history books and started reading the likes of Bradbury, Homer, King, Orwell and Salinger around junior high. Now, I’m a huge Kurt Vonnegut fan, and have read all 14 of his books. They’re amazing. I highly recommend all of them, seriously.
It was only a natural fit that once I enrolled in my high school’s newspaper class I became the news editor during my first semester. As a naive editor at the Coyote Chronicle, I probably should have ordered my reporters to cover regular school happenings, but instead I had them write on more international topics like the Arab Spring and the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Of course, after focusing on business journalism at ASU’s Cronkite School I’m much more locally minded, having the privilege of writing and covering Arizona’s wonderful business community.
In my free time I enjoy writing short stories, and I am currently sitting on top of the first draft of two separate manuscripts (editing them has become a daunting task). I also collect records and watch old TV shows like M.A.S.H. and Seinfeld.
Here, at AZ Big Media, I’m the digital editor, where I primarily edit and post stories for our site azbigmedia.com while writing social media for each post. I also contribute to AZ Business and AZRE. I also lend a hand in proofing our magazines.
I love to cover and talk about technology, it’s so fascinating and as a Sci-Fi fan I’ve always been enamored by new and exciting things.
Please drop a line via email, Jesse.Millard@azbigmedia.com, or on Twitter @Jesse_Millard. And if you know about any local creative writing workshops please let me know. I’ve been much too shy about going to one on my own, and need some coaxing.
