#MediaMonday – Jennifer Jones
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Jennifer Jones, special projects producer at AZ Family.
How did you get started in broadcast news?
I graduated from the Cronkite School at Arizona State University and began my career as a producer for ABC 15. After two years producing the morning news, I left ABC 15 and went to CBS 5 News. I have performed various tasks for CBS 5 including producing, writing, assignment editing, planning, special projects and was the managing editor for the Local News Share between CBS, FOX, and ABC.
Share with our readers your role as special projects producer?
I work on various projects throughout the year. Those include but are not limited to producing our annual Monsoon, Hispanic Heritage Special and Black History Month specials. I also help coordinate special coverage for large events such as the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Paul’s Car Wash, Pat’s Run and will be part of our Super Bowl coverage and planning. The list goes on and on.
What types of pitches would you like, if any?
With what I do I don’t really need daily news pitches although I am always happy to forward them to our producers. I am always working far in advance so if you do have a pitch that is related to big events I would be better to come a couple of months out.
Favorite type of music?
I like all sorts of music from oldies (which I recently found out by listening to the radio is now stuff from the 70s? Um no), pop, rock, classical (it soothes me and reminds me of my dad). The list goes on..
