#MediaMonday – Jamie Warren
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Jamie Warren, a reporter at ABC 15.
So, Jamie, time to share!
Tell us how you got your start in writing? Tell us your story!
Growing up, my favorite part of my morning routine while getting ready for school was watching the news. I used to see how the reporters were somewhere new everyday telling stories and thought to myself, I’d like to do that. In high school, I eventually took a journalism class, started writing for the school newspaper and even anchored the morning announcements. Despite that, I thought pursuing a degree in business was a safer route. A phone call from my high school journalism teacher just days after graduation convinced me otherwise and I chose to follow my passion instead. To this day, I thank her for that!
Tell us how you came to start working in the Valley media scene?
I graduated with a journalism degree at ASU and got my first job as a TV reporter in Las Cruces, N.M., and El Paso, Texas. As much as I loved the borderland, it was always my dream to report in my hometown. I managed to land an interview at ABC15 and just celebrated my three-year anniversary this summer.
