#MediaMonday – Fay Fredricks
Today’s Media Monday comes from just down the street from the HMA offices.
Fay Fredricks co-hosts ABC 15’s The NOW Arizona at 4 p.m. and also contributes to ABC15 News at 5 p.m. and ABC15 News at 6 p.m.
She got her start in the industry at the same place I did – Flagstaff’s KNAZ-TV, and recently made the jump to ABC 15 after 14 years at KPNX-TV.
I am biased, but my favorite all-time story that Fay covered was about “Who is Gym?”
Fay, time to share:
Yes, after growing up in Los Angeles and graduating from the University of Miami with dual majors in communications and political science, I started my career at KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff – many years after Scott had left the station. I then came to Phoenix and spent 4-1/2 years at KTVK-TV, before moving to WAMI-TV in Miami to host a magazine show.
In my career, I’ve had the opportunity to have covered many major events both here in Arizona and around the world. I traveled to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, Super Bowls in Miami and Tampa, the 2004 Presidential debates and the Diamondbacks World Series run in New York City following 9/11. I’ve been fortunate to have received a number of awards, including three Emmys for series reporting, feature reporting and service story reporting.
I’m a big sports fan. In fact, my husband, Tim Ring, is the sports director at KTVK-TV. We have twin boys born in 2007 and a daughter born in 2011.
I also love to travel. I’ve had the opportunity to see much of Europe, Greece, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong, the Caribbean and parts of Central America. My dream trip is to Africa so, I’m working on those frequent flyer miles!
My biggest pet peeve is intolerance.
I’m so proud to be a part of the ABC 15 team. Arizona is home for my family, and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity.
You can connect with me directly on both Facebook and Twitter.
