#MediaMonday – Cassie Brucci

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Cassie Brucci, a writer with the Phoenix New Times and AZ Foothills.

Okay, Cassie, time to share…

What kind of pitches, if any, do you prefer?

Anything food-related will always catch my eye, particularly new restaurant news or human-interest stories within the restaurant space. Beyond food, I also write for the New Times’ news section and for Arizona Foothills Magazine, so I’m open to pitches focusing on luxury lifestyle and general happenings around the Valley.

How did you get your start in the media?

Growing up, I wanted to be a journalist, but life had other plans. After nearly a decade in marketing roles, I finally decided to try my hand at editorial writing. So far, it’s been over two years, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Scottsdale. As an adult, I’ve moved away from and returned to Arizona twice.

Favorite TV shows or movies?

I’m a huge comedy fan, so anything that can make me laugh is always at the top of my list. Some of my favorite TV shows/movies are 30 Rock, Veep, Clueless and Mean Girls.

Favorite color?

Does black count? I’ll say black. Or red.

What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?

I was once in a Broadway show! My dance studio was selected to be part of the Evita tour back when I was in high school. For a week, I got to live out my Hannah Montana dreams and go perform every night after having a normal school day.
