#MediaMonday – Carey Peña
Each Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better.
With a TWIST!
No, we aren’t posting story pitch tips or media lists, but instead great stories from the media themselves about their lives, their work and other little known facts! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Carey Peña.
So, Carey , time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
My life is about to change.
Tonight I begin co-anchoring our new 10 p.m. newscast!
It’s a whole new gig, a whole new schedule for me.
This took a little bit of thought because I have 14-month-old twins. In the end, my husband and I decided we can make it work. I will have lots of time with the babies (the loves of my life) in the morning before doing research and heading to the station for our afternoon editorial meeting. I’m very excited about this newscast.
My co-anchor is a veteran reporter and anchor from Utah. His name is Fields Moseley (yes – that’s his real name!) He’s a Texan. But for the past 10 years he’s been in Salt Lake.
We plan to be totally involved in the show helping to make behind-the-scenes decisions about what we cover; how and why. We want to keep the conversation moving forward in a very real way. And this is where social media comes in.
Anyone who knows me knows I love social media. Following Twitter posts throughout the day is an amazing way to see what people care about and what they are talking about. It’s real time, real life. And that’s what I want our newscast to be about.
We are keeping people up-to-date as we build the show. Our social media manager, has been taking behind-the-scenes photos and videos (nothing is off limits) and blogging about our progress.
To all my PR friends, send your story ides over! I know you want to.
