#MediaMonday – Bree Burkitt
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from the cool pines of Flagstaff. Fellow NAU-grad Bree Burkitt is the editor of FlagLive! which is coming back as a monthly, Northern Arizona Mountain Living, a lifestyle magazine, and the Arizona Daily Sun’s special sections.
Bree, time to share:
My name’s Bree Burkitt and I’m the editor of FlagLive! and Northern Arizona Mountain Living, a lifestyle magazine. I also handle the Arizona Daily Sun’s special sections. I’ve been in journalism for about a decade now. I was the editor-in-chief of The Lumberjack and graduated from NAU with a degree in journalism. After graduation, I relocated to southern Utah and was a reporter for The Spectrum & Daily News where I covered everything from city council and events to cults and wildfires. I joined The Arizona Republic in 2018 as a breaking news reporter and eventually moved into a role covering cops and crimes before taking an editor position on the breaking news desk. I took over FlagLive! In early June and am so excited to be back in Flagstaff and back to the community I love after far too long in Phoenix.
Outside of work, I love hiking with my husband and our two “rez” dogs, Jill and Sonora, or working out in our home gym. I’m also an avid reader (I average about five books a week because I have no chill whatsoever) and am a confirmed ghost story and horror film addict.
I always welcome story pitches and coverage ideas. You can reach my at bburkitt@azdailysun.com or on Twitter at @breeburkitt.
