#MediaMonday – Alicia Haygood
Happy #MediaMonday! This feature comes to us from Alicia Haygood, the owner/publisher of Scottsdale City Lifestyle Magazine. Alicia is also the creator/host of the Scottsdale Vibes Podcast, which showcases all the greatness that the city has to offer.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up outside of Atlanta in Snellville, Ga. My southern roots have never left me!
How did you get your start in writing? Tell us your story!
After taking a broadcast journalism class in high school, I knew I was meant to be a journalist. I loved the power of one’s words, and the positive change it can bring to the world. I went to college to get into broadcast journalism and my passion became my purpose.
Tell us about your outlet and/or beat. What types of pitches are you looking for?
My publications cover any and all things in Scottsdale. I want to connect my community with each other and bring about a positive change to one’s life. When we work together, we become better.
I’m looking for stories about the people, places and events in Scottsdale.
What are your favorite stories to work on?
Good-hearted, feel-good positive stories.
What are some of your hobbies?
I jumped on the pickleball bandwagon and now I play every week. I also love snowboarding, water skiing and hiking.
Favorite movie? TV show? Book?
I’m a fan favorite of old musicals, a huge Roger & Hammerstein fan. State Fair is my all-time favorite. I’m a Netflix kind of lady and I am currently binge-watching Suits. I’m also a huge fan of documentaries and docuseries. It’s my favorite genre and why I got into broadcast journalism.
Do you have any favorite local spots?
I feel there are so many great spots, it’s hard to have a favorite. It really depends on the purpose of going out, family outing, date night, ladies’ night or a solo night. I love it all from a sports bar and good burger to a night in my highest heels for a night of cocktails and delicious food.
