Is it too soon for Christmas?
Twitter and other social media platforms have had grumblings for a few weeks about stores already having their Christmas decorations and merchandise out. Weeks before Halloween! Is that too early? Thanksgiving isn’t even on the current calendar page yet!
Nobody ever seems to complain, however, about 99.9 KEZ in Phoenix, which plays continuous Christmas music for nearly two months before the holiday.
This year, the self-proclaimed Holiday Station will flip the switch to Christmas Music on Nov. 6, a month before Thanksgiving. It’s the first time the station has announced in advance the date it will flip the switch to Christmas music.
KEZ has partnered with FOX 10 to make it a big deal. At 5:15 p.m. on the 6th, Beth McDonald will flip the switch with a little help from FOX 10’s Cory McCloskey. It will be part of their 2019 Christmas Music Kickoff Party at ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo.
ZooLights features millions of sparkling lights, hundreds of dazzling displays, live reindeer, music-in-motion light shows, as well as a Wildlife Lantern Safari featuring more than 60 creatures all aglow
Even with the remnants of Halloween still around, when KEZ turns on the Christmas music, the Valley knows it’s the holiday season.
