The Importance of Team Meetings
Our days are pretty busy around here at HMA. Between phone calls, client meetings, business travels, tight deadlines and outside appointments, a full day can go by and you realize you haven’t said more than a few words to the people working right next to you.
We have a lot going on. We wear many hats. We are constantly trying to check off our to-do’s.
And I love it.
However, because we are always spinning off in our own organized chaos, I appreciate the times we can come together. No phones, no computers… just a good ole fashion internal meeting.
Although we do have a weekly Monday morning gathering around the comfy chairs, our most recent meeting took place in the conference room, over pizza (win!) and we had a couple hours blocked off to just converse about the happenings of our clients and ourselves.
And while it was a great opportunity to discuss upcoming events, media placements and client news, it was also just refreshing to huddle as a team.
We laughed. We ate. We brainstormed. We connected. We understood the direction we were headed.
So often our internal means of communication is through email. Yes, an email to the person in the office about five feet away. This is why it is so important to ensure we take time to see each other’s face once in a while.
When done effectively, a team meeting doesn’t have to be a chore. Rather, utilize that time to create an open forum, provide feedback, build supportive relationships and remind one another that we are, in fact, all in this chaos together.
