Future of Instagram

As we all have probably heard by now Instagram is continuing to test hiding the “likes” from users in more markets around the world. This has everyone wondering what this might mean for those users who we call “Instafamous” or “Instagram models.”

I always had professors throughout college who always said, “the amount of ‘likes’ someone receives does not determine their influence.”

Being an active Instagram user myself, I agree with this statement. I follow some users that would be considered “Instafamous,” and I know I would never buy anything that they are promoting.

In my opinion, I don’t think taking away being able to see “likes” will take away from those who rely on Instagram for income. Users will still be able to see their own “likes” and if they truly have influence over their audience then the amount of likes will never matter.

Ultimately, it will be interesting to see how this plays out for Instagram if it does become a change for all users.
