Drum Roll Please…Good Marketing Is Creative and Personal
I am always impressed when I see a marketing strategy that is not only creative but personalized as well.
While on vacation in Seattle last month, my sister and I stopped at one of the local farmers markets. After picking up some fruits and vegetables, we stopped at the winetasting booth (of course).
The winery was called Drum Roll Wine, a nod to the owners’ background in the music industry. While tasting their delicious reds and whites, we chatted with Sundee, the representative from the winery. Well, really more than just a representative, it turns out she and her husband, Matt, are the owners of the winery.
As we were tasting and talking, I noticed the book she was reading and commented that I liked the book cover. She shared with us that in addition to owning the winery and being a musician, she is also a writer, having gotten her journalism degree at the University of Southern California. One of her areas of expertise is children’s literature and she judges author competitions.
We were drawn to the booth in part because of the creativity of the labeling of each of the bottles, including a QR code that takes you to some of their music videos. We bought a bottle to have with dinner that night because of Sundee and Matt’s enthusiasm and personalization of the product.
