Do You Speak PR?
English author Hugh Lofting penned the classic book, The Story of Dr. Doolittle, in 1920. He wrote it from the trenches while serving in World War I. It was the first in a series of books about the travails of physician John Doolittle, who could speak to animals.
Then in 1998 Eddie Murphy starred in a fantasy comedy movie based on the books.
That same year, The Horse Whisperer, a drama film directed by and starring Robert Redford, was released. It was based on the 1995 novel The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans. The movie and book were about a talented trainer with a remarkable gift for understanding horses.
These examples came to me when I walked by a sign outside a doggie day-care business, proclaiming that they “speak dog.” It put an immediate smile on my face. Pet lovers can make that instant connection. That single sign helps the business relate to its customers going straight to their heart! It’s so simple and brilliant.
