CSOM: Little Things Can Make All The Difference
A couple weeks ago, KC and I hopped on a plane headed for Tennessee and Kentucky. Our client, Lifeworks for Autism, was hosting an event and we wanted to take full advantage of the trip. Not only did we visit with Robin Embry, our PR colleague at Lovell Communications whom we share a client with, but we also met with Macey Binner and Tiffany Buchen from Reed Public Relations, our PRGN partner in Nashville. The conversations were fantastic, the food was even better.
One of our goals for this trip was to make personal visits to the reporters that we had been working with, to share some updated information about our client and to put a face to the email exchanges that had taken place over the past several months. And just over 500 miles later, we made connections at nearly 20 media outlets in Nashville, Louisville and Lexington on behalf of our client.
Media visits were a regular part of our media outreach, but with many reporters working from home and shrinking newsrooms, these visits can be a bit more challenging. But our advanced planning meant that these reporters were expecting us and although we might not have had as much time with them as we had hoped, the time spent was well worth it.
This personalized gesture has already paid off as we have heard back from a couple of the reporters and have a few stories in the works.
It got us thinking, what other things can we do that set us apart? Our team came up with a few and Adrian and I talked more about it on this episode of Copper State of Mind.
Whether it is a handwritten thank you note or spending time with up-and-coming professionals, the little things really to matter.
