PIMMEX-CHASSE, San Carlos Apache Tribe Complete Two Head Start Facilities for Tribal Community

(SAN CARLOS, Ariz. – Oct. 31, 2025) – PIMMEX-CHASSE is pleased to announce the completion of two impactful projects in partnership with the San Carlos Apache Tribe. This week, the team successfully delivered two new Head Start facilities for the Tribal Community, each designed to provide safe, welcoming, and culturally rooted learning environments for the community’s youngest learners. Located in both San Carlos and Bylas, these modern facilities combine thoughtful design with durable construction to meet the long-term needs of families and educators.

The Bylas Head Start is a 7,980-square-foot single-story facility built from the ground up. Inside, four classrooms provide bright, engaging spaces for students, each equipped with child-sized restrooms, resilient flooring of LVT and carpet, large windows for natural daylighting, and dedicated cubby storage for every child. Supporting spaces include a full kitchen with stoves and refrigeration, a laundry room, and a nurse’s office. Two playground areas, along with a bus loop and parking lot, ensure convenient access and safe play opportunities for families. The building itself was constructed with exposed block and a wood roof structure, accented by a steel trellis at the entry, eyebrow canopies, and colorful finishes throughout the interior and exterior. To ensure the highest level of safety, the facility is equipped with an extensive security system, including cameras in all classrooms, hallways, and lobbies, as well as a distress alarm system. Bilingual wayfinding, with room numbers written in both Apache and English, ties the facility back to the culture and language of the Tribe.

The San Carlos Head Start, which celebrated its ribbon cutting this week, shares all these same features while offering additional space to accommodate more students. At 19,430 square feet, the single-story building includes twelve classrooms, four of which are specially designed for infants. Like Bylas, each classroom is filled with natural light and fitted with cubby storage and resilient flooring to balance comfort and durability. The San Carlos site also includes a bus loop, expanded parking, new perimeter fencing, and upgraded site lighting. Its kitchen is equipped with a walk-in cooler and freezer to support meal programs for the larger student body. Together, the two facilities provide bright, secure, and culturally connected spaces that reflect the San Carlos Apache Tribe’s deep commitment to education, wellness, and community.
