One Step Beyond, Inc. Names Jeff Swanson Chief Executive Officer
(PHOENIX – April 13, 2026) – One Step Beyond, Inc., a leading provider of innovative programs and services for adults with intellectual disabilities for more than 20 years, has announced the promotion of Jeff Swanson as chief executive officer for the organization.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience across nonprofit operations, development and community engagement, Swanson most recently served as executive director of administration at One Step Beyond, where he oversaw daily operations and improved organizational efficiencies to support strategic growth. Prior to that role, he served as executive director of Arizona development and communications at OSBI, leading fundraising efforts that supported the expansion and renovation of multiple OSBI Valley campuses in Peoria, Surprise and Scottsdale.
The largest program of its kind, One Step Beyond serves more than 700 individuals and their families across its Arizona campuses in Glendale, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Surprise, as well as in San Carlos and Redwood City, California. The organization empowers its members to achieve independence, self-sufficiency and employment through comprehensive culinary, education, fitness, fine arts and other programs.

In his new role, Swanson will oversee the organization’s continued expansion, including leading the development of Nikki’s Next Step, a transformative residential initiative designed to meet the growing need for long-term, independent living solutions for adults with intellectual disabilities. The initiative was created in response to the growing barriers that individuals with disabilities face in finding housing, including affordability, limited options, support needs and aging of their parents or caregivers.
The planned 57-unit community in northern Glendale will offer ownership and lease options designed to support affordability and safety, while keeping residents connected to services and a community environment. The project is expected to break ground in the coming years, with a targeted opening in late 2027.
“Jeff has been instrumental in helping OSBI grow and reach more individuals and families in meaningful ways,” said Mary Lou Micheaels, OSBI board chair. “He leads with a clear focus on the people at the center of our mission and their potential, building strong relationships that create real opportunities for those we serve to find employment, achieve independence and develop essential life skills.”
Swanson received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance, while a student athlete at The Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
