One Step Beyond Float Wins First Place at San Carlos Hometown Days Parade

(San Carlos, Calif.– June 20, 2023) On Saturday, May 20, 30 team members and participants from One Step Beyond, Inc. (OSBI)—a leading provider of comprehensive programming and services for adults who have intellectual disabilities—laced up their shoes and marched in the annual San Carlos Hometown Days parade. An annual tradition, the parade provided an opportunity for the One Step Beyond participants to shine a light on their abilities and show how they can contribute to and participate in the community.

One Step Beyond’s 70’s inspired parade float, which won a first-place ribbon, featured a platform for program participants and staff to ride and wave, as well as a group of individuals to walk alongside the float with posters. The “Inclusion Revolution” float was inspired by the mission and vision of the One Step Beyond organization which is a world in which people with disabilities are fully included in all areas of our communities and recognized for their potential, talents, and contributions to society.

The float stood 4 feet tall and was designed and built by One Step Beyond participants and team members.

“The San Carlos community has embraced our organization with open arms,” said One Step Beyond CEO Madison Blanton. “We are thankful to have opportunities like the parade that offers a platform to educate the community about the importance of providing much-needed services for our community.”
