Jared “The Subway Guy” Fogle Launching Wellness Program in Valley
Subway Kids & Sports of Arizona, a local non-profit organization focused on providing sports equipment, uniforms, registration fees and access to sporting events for kids who might not otherwise be able to participate, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the Jared Foundation, a national health-focused nonprofit developed by Jared “The Subway Guy” Fogle, to fund a specialized children’s wellness program at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, which is located on Scottsdale Road and Sweetwater, in 2013.
“Every child should have the opportunity to grow up healthy,” said Fogle, who is also celebrating his 15th anniversary of losing 245 pounds.
The program – CATCH – is focused on providing a coordinated approach to child health and has more than 20 years of research behind it. The program is recommended by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and many others.
In addition to the local Jewish Community Center, Subway Kids & Sports of Arizona made a total contribution of $20,000 to the Jared Foundation, ensuring enough funding so that the program can also be launched in Tucson and at one or more Valley schools this Fall.
“We believe that teamwork, commitment and accountability – taught both through this CATCH program and through access to sports – helps kids throughout their lives,” said Mark Roden of Subway Kids & Sports of Arizona.
Developed in 1999 by local Subway franchisees, Subway Kids & Sports of Arizona has touched the lives of more than 20,000 children to date.
