Jacqueline Cruz Named Director of Philanthropy at Sojourner Center

(PHOENIX – Aug. 1, 2022) – Jacqueline Cruz, a philanthropy and marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience in developing and executing fundraising strategies to cultivate stewardship for nonprofits, has been named director of philanthropy at Sojourner Center.

As director of philanthropy, Cruz will work directly with the community, supporters, and partners to further the ongoing support efforts and resources needed for Sojourner Center, a subsidiary of Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS), to continue its mission of overcoming the impact of domestic violence. She will work with leadership to maintain consistency of overall fundraising, building community and marketing strategy.

“Jacqueline’s history of implementing fundraising strategies will help us forge meaningful community relationships with those who care deeply about the wellbeing of our community and families,” said Sojourner Center Co-Director Julie Peterson. “Her broad experience in creating deep and lasting relationships has served her well and will help our organization expand creative fundraising opportunities as well as grow our relationships with longstanding supporters.”

Cruz’s development experience includes leadership positions at the Association for Supportive Child Care, Boys Hope Girls Hope Arizona, and Christian Family Care. Her tenure consists of developing and successfully executing fundraising strategies that helped secure millions of dollars in donations with appeals, grants, events, and crowdfunding.

Cruz received her Bachelor of Arts in marketing management from the University of New Mexico. Cruz also graduated from Valley Leadership Class 41 to help empower and mobilize her as a leader on issues impacting Arizona.

“We’re excited to have Jacqueline join the team at Sojourner Center to continue the progress the development team has made over the past year,” said Len Gutman, vice president of philanthropic services for JFCS. “We’ll be closely linked moving forward to work together to advance the mission of Sojourner Center from both a fundraising and marketing perspective.”
