HMA Public Relations Seeks Account Coordinator

SUMMARY
Assists the account executive with the day-to-day management of clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist principal client contact (typically senior account executive or account executive)
  • Assist in the development of appropriate strategies to meet client needs
  • Attend client meetings, when necessary
  • Approach supervisor consistently with recommendations for addressing client requests/issues
  • Assist in drafting collateral and media materials, including news releases, media advisories, photo captions, public service announcements, social media, etc.
  • Develop and maintain media contact list (print, television and radio contacts)
  • Read and track print/broadcast stories and issues of importance of client
  • Assist in coordination of special events, possibly requiring weekend/night overtime
  • Enhance and foster overall company culture and team moral/enthusiasm
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Understanding of digital communications/social media tactics and strategies

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in journalism, public relations or related field from a four-year college or university; and one-two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Agency experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write news releases, proposals, strategic plans, reports, and other business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel), WordPress (or comparable blogging software).
