Property Kicks off Earth Month Celebration with Annual Nod to Climate Change Awareness

(MARICOPA, Ariz. – April 1, 2022) On Saturday, March 26 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino joined hundreds of millions of individuals, businesses and government leaders from across the world in an hour of darkness where non-essential outdoor lighting was turned off to tangibly demonstrate support for climate action. The annual event was a nod to climate change awareness and kicked off the property’s Earth Month celebration.

Environmental stewardship is an essential pillar of Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino’s Code of Commitment as the property recognizes the importance of being responsible stewards of the environment. Participation in Earth Hour, a worldwide movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund, is one of the many ways the property demonstrates its leadership in energy conservation and environmental sustainability.

The property will also celebrate Earth Month by hosting events throughout the month of April:

• Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino employees will participate in an Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up event on April 21 from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. focusing on the two-mile stretch of Highway 347 in front of Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino.
• The property will host a Shred-It event for employees and community members tentatively scheduled for late April.
• Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino will have a CodeGreen Educational Exhibit Booth at the Ak-Chin Community Earth Day celebration on April 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. featuring Clean the World Hygiene Kit building to benefit the Diana Gregory Foundation
• An Earth Day Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 22 will offer recognition to all Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino employees, which includes drawings for select employees to win plants. There will also be an opportunity for employees to build Clean the World Hygiene Kits.
